En se faisant peindre le corps, Liu Bolin se fond dans une variété de paysages. Il invertit ainsi l’arrière-plan et le premier plan, et renverse les codes conventionnels de la composition. Liu Bolin commence par trouver l’Endroit, en ville ou aux alentours. Puis il se peint et se fait peindre, patiemment, au détail près, pour se fondre totalement dans le paysage choisi. À l’image de l’animal, il se mêle aux couleurs et aux formes.
By making the body painting, Liu Bolin blends in a variety of landscapes. He thus inverts the background and foreground, and reverses the conventional codes of the composition. Liu Bolin begins by finding the locations, or around town. Then it is painted and paint patiently in detail, to melt completely in the chosen landscape. Like the animal, he mixes the colors and shapes.

« Dans ce projet, un dessin à grande échelle est peint directement sur le mur. Le mur est équipé pour l’escalade et l’artiste est suspendue par un harnais.
La performance consiste à négocier l’espace vertical tout créant une image avec du charbon et du ruban. L’action du dessin et de l’escalade engendre des marques, des traces du corps de l’artiste laissant ainsi une trace de lutte physique qui est une partie intégrante de l’élaboration et l’image. »
« In this project a large scale drawing is created directly on the wall. The wall is rigged for climbing and artist is suspended with a harness.
The performance consists of negotiating the vertical space while drawing an image with charcoal and tape. The action of drawing and climbing leaves marks from the artists body along with marks made intentionally with the hands, leaving a trace of physical struggle that is an inherent part of the drawing and image. »
